After being on hiatus for three month's, Rodel and I were able to record a new episode. In this episode we discuss my trip to Europe, our CrossFit injuries and pr's and our experience at Otaku Recon 2016.

Otaku Recon 2016 Recap

Butchers Captain: Ox

I stated in a previous post that Boar would be the first model from the Butchers team. After looking at boar I decided to test out a paint scheme on the captain, Ox. the paint scheme I went for is almost the same as my Protectorate army. I love the cream and maroon colors of the protectorate and wanted to apply this to my Butchers. I didn't want to copy the studio scheme for my team so I went with something similar.

I also started using the Army Painter inks on this one. The strong tone, soft tone and dark tone inks are awesome. I've used vallejo inks and washes but they gave a frosted finish on a few of my models. I threw those bottles out and I'm very happy with the Army Painter stuff. My skill as a painter is getting better. I'm no where near a pro level but I think my stuff is good enough for table top. I can't wait to paint more stuff!

Meat the Butchers

In addition to Warmachine models that I need to paint, I also picked up a Guild Ball team. I was tempted to pick up the Alchemists or Engineers but the Butchers spoke to me. I wanted to play a team that was more melee focused and straight forward. Here are some pictures of my models before they get a coat of primer. Hopefully I can finish a few of them and start on more Warmachine models.


First model on deck is going to be Boar. He's an awesome model, rules wise and his sculpt looks sweet. That huge cleaver is going to do some damage! I'm not sure what the paint scheme is going to be but I really like the Protectorate of Menoth colors. I didn't want to stray from colors I like so I might go with that.

In order to diversify our tables during Warmachine games, I decided to build a simple house. Previously, I would make houses out of paper print outs from artists like Dave Graffam but I wanted to start building more realistic terrain pieces and decided to build a simple house. I borrowed designs I found on the internet, and built it from scratch. This is my first attempt at making a building.





The design of the house should have been done differently. The posts inhibit the roof but I compensated by adding posts to the pitch. It wasn't ideal but I didn't want to cut new walls again.



Used some leftover card from a soda box to make the roof.



I made a makeshift door and window from pieces of balsa wood and bamboo skewers.


I cut pieces of card from various boxes to create the shingles. The roof is topped with a single piece of card.




Started dry brushing tiles and foundation with a light gray highlight color.


Added a few more touch ups and I'm done!

Final Project Thoughts

After a few computer errors, episode 6 was lost to the void. Instead of recording that episode over, we decided to just move forward. We discuss regionals, our week in CrossFit and go over the spoiled cards for Warmachine/Hordes. EPISODE 4

 A few guys from the Limitless Fails Gaming Group (LFGG) and a few people from TigerBrewed Gaming have teamed up to start a podcast. The podcast is called Natural 1, and it will be focused mainly on wargaming, the hobby and some board games as well. We started this podcast as a way for us to share our experience wargaming on Guam. We also want to spread awareness about wargaming to other listeners currently living here.

This is our introductory episode where the hosts introduce themselves. We talk about how we started wargaming and the games we like to play. Any feedback will be appreciated. I will also be posting links to new episodes as well.
